It has been a long time since the Quebec Nordiques have been trying to rise from their ashes, but it has never worked, neither through expansion nor relocation.

However, both situations have occurred in recent years. It's unfortunate for Quebec, which sees its chances of having a team again slowly fading away.

However, there's a twist, as the St. Louis Blues recently changed ownership, though it's quite minor and the plan is to keep the team in St. Louis.

"Earlier this morning, the St. Louis Blues announced a change in their ownership group: David Steward's partial ownership stake has been sold to Michael W. Riney, keeping the team's all-local ownership structure intact."

However, David Pagnotta mentions that another NHL team is currently selling a larger portion of its franchise, which is nearly completed and expected to be finalized this summer.

"Another NHL club is in the process of selling a larger portion of its franchise, which is nearing completion and is expected to be finalized this summer."

We don't know if this is for relocation purposes or just a change in majority ownership, nor which team it is, but one thing is certain, things are stirring in the NHL for quite some time.

There have been several sales, expansions, and a relocation in recent years. It's starting to become quite advantageous for the Quebec Nordiques.
