In this regard, it's normal to sometimes hear about hires or firings that come out of left field.
Is Kent Hughes about to announce a hiring?
Former Canadiens scout Albie O'Connell has reportedly left his position as assistant coach at ASU for a new opportunity in the NHL.
According to Arpon Basu, this could mean that the Canadiens have hired him again, but this time as a coach.
It's just speculation at this point, but the question arises.
Although Kent Hughes is quite transparent, he doesn't always mention this kind of change promptly.
A good example is the case of Paul Byron. We saw him on the ice at the CN Sports Performance Center working with the young players for several weeks before he was officially hired.
The same thing happened at the Combine, where Director of Sports Science Adam Douglas, who evaluated absolutely all the physical data of the players, no longer works for the Canadiens.
If O'Connell is indeed hired, we may not know right away, but I wonder where he would fit in.
All coaching positions with the Canadiens seem to be filled, but there's still a spot with the Rocket. Morgan mentions that Albie's opportunity is with an NHL team.
