Kent Hughes and the Canadiens have made an offer to a forward
With the NCAA season over for most teams, many players are being signed by their respective teams, including Lane Hutson.
His teammate from Boston University, Luke Tuch, who also belongs to the Canadiens, has yet to sign, which raises questions.
According to reports from several journalists and observers, Hughes has made an offer to Tuch, but the latter is hesitating.
"I know a lot of people are wondering about Luke Tuch, with BU done and Lane Hutson already signed. He has a contract offer from the Canadiens and I'm being told it's expected he'll make a decision, one way or the other, at some point over the next 24 hours." - Eric Engels, Sportsnet
If he refuses to sign Hughes' offer, the forward will become a free agent on August 15 and can sign with the team of his choice.
It seems the sticking point is the start of the contract. Tuch would like to begin his contract this year and thus burn the first year, but the offer stipulates that the contract would begin next year.
We'll have to see how this plays out, but one thing is certain, we should have an answer today. Either he leaves, or he goes to Laval next year.
