We know he's been involved in several significant deals, including those for Trevor Zegras, Martin Necas, and more recently, Jonathan Marchessault.
While nothing is lost yet for Zegras and Necas, it's over for Marchessault, who signed with the Predators. However, he almost signed with Montreal.
Hughes has made some minor acquisitions, but one of them could be very rewarding. We're talking about Alex Barré-Boulet.
In a discussion between Anthony Marcotte and goalie Louis Domingue, it's mentioned that Barré-Boulet has everything it takes to be a top 6 forward in the NHL.
With the Canadiens, there are two winger spots to fill in the top 6, so Alex clearly has a golden opportunity to fill one of these available spots.
In the AHL over the last few years, he has accumulated impressive totals of 19 points in 23 games, 84 points in 69 games, and 63 points in 58 games. He's a superstar in the American League.
When he breaks through in the NHL, the team that has him will be lucky, especially since he costs almost nothing. Hopefully, it will be in Montreal and Kent Hughes will have finally found his top 6 forward at a low cost.
