Kent Hughes is not wasting any time and is immediately replacing Kaiden Guhle
As you may have learned today, Kaiden Guhle underwent surgery on Wednesday to have his appendix removed and will be evaluated in a week, forcing Kent Hughes to find a replacement for camp.
Indeed, a week's absence from training is significant, and the Canadiens don't want to be short-handed during this time. This also gives a chance to a player from Ottawa.
So, Jacob Paquette has received this opportunity, having played for the Trois-Rivières Lions last year.
Personally, I love this decision from the organization, inviting a player who was already in their system to fill in for an injury.
Jacob Paquette likely won't have the chance to sign a contract with the Canadiens or even with the Laval Rocket, but he will have a great opportunity to showcase himself and it will be a valuable experience for him.
In 19 games last season with the Lions, Jacob Paquette recorded one assist. He is a purely defensive defenseman.
