Kent Hughes made an incredible acquisition that has gone unnoticed: Finnish goaltender Kasimir Kaskisuo
In Montreal, every move and action by Kent Hughes is closely scrutinized. After two years as the general manager of the team, it can be said that he is very close to flawless.
Less noticed are his personnel moves for the Laval Rocket. At the beginning of the season, the Canadiens' AHL affiliate had the worst record in terms of goaltending. This wasn't surprising as last year's duo, Cayden Primeau and Kevin Poulin, was no longer there. Adding to that, Jakub Dobes was making his professional debut, resulting in the outcomes we witnessed.
Kent Hughes had to take action, and that's exactly what he did by signing Finnish goaltender Kasimir Kaskisuo. Since his arrival, the Rocket and Jakub Dobes have undergone a transformation.
The addition of a veteran to support the young Dobes has had a significant impact. The team's record is 12-7-1, and Kaskisuo's record is 6-0-0 with a 2.44 goals-against average and a save percentage of 0.934. Impressive!
When he arrived in Montreal, a video of his wife surfaced on social media. She was delighted to be part of the Canadiens organization, considering it their favorite in the NHL.
