Kent Hughes: the next Kirby Dach acquired from the Los Angeles Kings?
We know that Kent Hughes has a penchant for former first-round picks, as demonstrated by his acquisitions of Kirby Dach and Alex Newhook in the past two years.
Many rumors link expensive players to Montreal, like Trevor Zegras and Martin Necas, or risky options like Patrik Laine. However, Hughes could take a more conservative approach and target a former 5th overall pick.
Analyst Simon Boisvert suggested this possibility. Turcotte is a young player full of talent, but injuries have slowed him down. Imagine if he breaks out with the Canadiens.
"Turcotte has been unlucky with injuries, but I think he's someone I would potentially targetwith modest expectationswith a modest offer, because I've noticed he's a guy who always puts in an effort. A player who consistently puts in effort can always become a useful player in your lineup.
However, right now, we're talking about a support player, not a complementary player, but a true support player." - Simon Boisvert
A player who always puts in sustained effort is appealing, and probably to Kent Hughes as well. While it wouldn't be a major acquisition, it could be beneficial for the Canadiens if the young player gains confidence and eventually blossoms.
Turcotte is simply waiting for his chance to play regularly in the NHL, which he hasn't had with the Kings, as evidenced by his mere 32 games over three seasons.
