Indeed, Kent Hughes will try to acquire another promising young forward in the coming days and weeks, but in the meantime, other trades could happen.
This is the case for Christian Dvorak and David Savard. According to Frank Seravalli, who has compiled a list of the 25 players available on the market:
For Savard, it's not a surprise, but it would be a significant loss. However, it's understandable why Kent Hughes would consider it.
The veteran defenseman has substantial market value right now, and if he gets injured before the trade deadline, the team would lose him for nothing this summer.
It would be a big loss, especially for the young defensemen in the organization who would greatly benefit from his leadership during their first steps in the NHL. This includes players like Lane Hutson and Logan Mailloux.
Just look at the impact he had on Arber Xhekaj when paired with Savard at the end of the season. Xhekaj had never played such solid hockey, despite his shoulder injury.
As for Christian Dvorak, it's unfortunate, but it would be a relief. He never really found his place with the Canadiens, despite being promising upon his arrival.
Trading him would free up space for other players who deserve a spot at center more, like Alex Newhook.
