Logan Mailloux shouldn't start the season in Laval according to AB
During the last Canadiens camp, specifically the rookie camp, Logan Mailloux was invisible in his first game.
It didn't take long for Canadiens fans to get upset and worried about this prospect who was said to be so promising.
As the games went on, Mailloux found his footing, eventually staying with the Habs until the very end before being sent to Laval.
A year later, it's clear his play was adequate, but he needed to learn how to become a professional. Mailloux finished the season among the top rookies in the American Hockey League and has made significant strides in maturity.
Barring a catastrophe, he should not start the season in Laval but rather in Montreal, according to Arpon Basu.
«According to what Arpon Basu said in his podcast with Marc Antoine Godin, he believes Mailloux should start the season in the NHL barring a catastrophe,» said Charles-Alexis Brisebois from DLC.
It's clear that Mailloux is superior to defensemen like Johnathan Kovacevic, Jordan Harris, and Justin Barron. Being a right-handed shot also helps a lot.
«Basu says that the situation on the right side (with Guhle potentially moving back to the left) could open the door for him,» added Brisebois.
Kovacevic, Barron, and Harris will all be waiver-eligible this season, so we can expect some moves from Kent Hughes.
As for Lane Hutson, he will have to prove himself to break into the left side of the defense. Everything will be decided at camp in September!
