Major development in the Martin Necas and Canadiens situation
Martin Necas has been linked to the Canadiens in recent weeks, but things have quieted down since the draft.
Indeed, the forward has remained with the Hurricanes and has even accepted arbitration, which leaves room for interpretation.
Will Martin Necas be traded to the Canadiens soon?
According to David Pagnotta, it certainly won't be happening right away. Negotiations with other teams are reportedly not very advanced.
"Carolina will continue to entertain trade discussions involving Martin Necas, but as of an hour or ago it was status quo and a move wasn't imminent. We'll see if Canes gain traction this week or not." - David Pagnotta
The Canadiens and the Flyers are among the favored teams in this matter, and a trade is not out of the question but is not imminent.
Necas is a very good forward, and the Hurricanes are seeking an established player in return who can help them immediately. They won't let him go easily, as evidenced during the draft.
We'll soon see what happens with Necas, but contrary to expectations, he could start the upcoming season in Carolina.
