In a hockey organization, every position is important and nothing should be taken lightly, a fact well understood by Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton.

The head coach position for the Rocket is no exception, nor is that of the Lions de Trois-Rivières.

In fact, the team's owner openly admitted to having asked Kent Hughes for help in the hiring process for the next coach.

Regarding the Rocket, the success of the young players in Laval will have a direct impact on the Canadiens in the near future.

They did not make the playoffs this season, and a similar outcome would be unacceptable in 2024-25.

John Sedgwick, who is Kent Hughes' assistant and in charge of the Rocket, did not confirm that Jean-François Houle would return. This is a significant piece that could be leaving.

With Kelly Buchberger's departure, his right-hand man is no longer there, and anyway, the people currently behind the Rocket's bench were not hired by Hughes. They were hired by Marc Bergevin.

Let's be clear, the coach in Laval could very well change. Personally, I hope that Houle remains in position.

He is very good with the young players and will be able to raise the level for the next campaign.
