MAJOR: Kent Hughes about to make a big move? A defenseman could be leaving the organization, and it's Johnathan Kovacevic
Less than 72 hours before the trade deadline, there are numerous rumors that have been circulating for several weeks. We are in the final stretch of negotiations between teams, and a lot of information is leaking.
Jake Allen, David Savard, and Tanner Pearson are taking the lead, but there's one player in particular who no longer seems to fit the team's needs.
Marc Antoine Godin summarized the situation well, suggesting that defenseman Johnathan Kovacevic might be on his way out.
Quote: "My answer would be Johnathan Kovacevic... There are teams in need of defensive help and with no cap space. Getting a player who can act as a sixth or seventh defenseman, under contract next year... Kovacevic has value." - Marc-Antoine Godin
Remember, Kovacevic was claimed off waivers. He has provided very good services to the Canadiens, but he is currently low in the team's defensive hierarchy.
Regardless of the potential return, it would be a very good move by Kent Hughes, considering Kovacevic cost nothing in terms of acquisition and practically nothing in salary.
