MAJOR: The Canadiens announce two last-minute personnel moves
As the trade deadline clock struck 3:00, the Montreal Canadiens announced that they have loaned two players to the Laval Rocket.
Indeed, Joshua Roy and Jayden Struble are heading to Laval on paper. This is a technicality, as it was also the deadline to send players down to the AHL in preparation for the playoffs.
"The Canadiens have done paper transactions with Joshua Roy and Jayden Struble to make them eligible to be returned to Laval." - Montreal Canadiens
In other words, if the Canadiens hadn't loaned them, they wouldn't have been able to send them to Laval at the end of the Canadiens' season to aid if they make the playoffs.
The significant issue with this strategy is that the Canadiens can make four call-ups until the end of the season, and two of them are now used for this move.
Let's hope there won't be any injuries, as it could pose a problem in case of necessity.
