The Canadiens have won their two preseason games so far, and although it doesn't count, it's really important for the morale of Martin St-Louis's squad.

If you remember, two years ago, the Tricolore lost all their preseason matchups, which caused quite a stir. It's not dramatic, but it does start a season on a bad note, without any real confidence.

What we can note right now is that the goaltenders are in full control, and the team has limited defensive damage.

When the defense is working well, it gives a much better chance of winning games. If the collective defensive play is strong, the Canadiens will be tough to face.

This season, there's a big change in the power play, as Martin St-Louis will handle it himself, taking over from Alex Burrows, who left earlier this summer.

In the two games so far, that's been the least effective area. On the other hand, the forwards have only played one game. In fact, Logan Mailloux is the only one to have played twice.

After wins of 5-0 and 3-0, there's not much negative to highlight, but one journalist still decided to go there. He pressed the coach on the issue and was put in his place.

"Tonight, you had the big trio (Slafkovsky, Caufield, and Suzuki) and Matheson, yet you didn't create much, particularly on the power play, so should we take away a lot from that?"

- Journalist

"I take away that we killed a lot of penalties on the penalty kill and that we will work on the power play."

- Martin St-Louis

"My question was about the power play!"

- Journalist

"Yeah, I know, but we will work on the power play. We haven't worked on the power play yet."

- Martin St-Louis

In any case, it's understandable that with so many players in camp right now, the coach hasn't yet worked with his players on important seasonal aspects, like the power play.

That will come, and the Canadiens have so much talent that there's no need to panic about it.
