After being cut at the very end last year, the defenseman had an exceptional season in Laval, even participating in the All-Star Game, which was well deserved.
Logan Mailloux had some maturing to do, and he worked on that throughout the season, learning how to become a true professional. According to rumors, he was occasionally late and didn't always take practices seriously, but he quickly turned things around.
This year, he's once again aiming for a spot on the Canadiens' roster, and the competition is even fiercer than last year, with Lane Hutson, Justin Barron, and Jayden Struble all vying for two spots.
According to his former coach JF Houle, Mailloux's place will be in Laval. In fact, Houle believes that Logan Mailloux will shine in the AHL. Here's what he said when Pierre McGuire asked him who in Laval would stand out:
Of course, JF Houle isn't privy to the final decisions and has no idea where Mailloux will start the next season, but he had high praise for him.
It's more about Kent Hughes' decisions that raise questions. The GM hasn't traded a defenseman yet, and according to Jeff Gorton, that's unlikely to happen.
Justin Barron is expected to be the 7th defenseman in Montreal, and logically, Logan Mailloux would start in Laval. Lane Hutson and Jayden Struble are too solid to be considered for the Rocket.
