No rest for Martin St-Louis' men as they traveled to Pittsburgh to face the Penguins on Thursday night.
As is customary with the Habs and most teams across the NHL, it's not the same goalie who starts two consecutive games. While it was common not so long ago, it's rarely seen today.
Samuel Montembeault was in net on Wednesday, so we should expect Primeau or Allen to start on Thursday. The coach confirmed it was Jake Allen.
Immediately after, St-Louis backtracked on his statement and confirmed it was Cayden Primeau in the Canadiens' net. One can understand the coach making a mistake; it must become confusing to play musical chairs like this.
The young goalie has performed very well since the beginning of the season. It's evident he is ready to play regularly in the NHL, and the Canadiens did well to remain patient with him.
