Martin St. Louis has had enough: he sends a clear message to Arber Xhekaj
Arber Xhekaj hasn't played in two games, and it's already confirmed that he will be back in the lineup Saturday against the St. Louis Blues.
The colossus defender is capable of being a very good defender, but he seems to repeat the same mistakes night after night. This trend cannot remain silent, and Martin St. Louis has made a decision.
Obviously, this didn't suit everyone, even though Xhekaj is the sheriff of the team. However, when we look at what he is able to accomplish we say to ourselves that he is so much better than what he has shown us since the start of the campaign.
Xhekaj is a solid defender who is able to play tough and support the attack. He is currently not using his strengths and the coach has conveyed his message.
«Arber Xhekaj must be better. He can't keep making the same mistakes. He is no longer a rookie. I expect it to be a better version. »
- Martin St. Louis
According to the Habs on Reddit page, this is the first time that the coach has been so severe in his comments towards one of his players. It's certain that there is pressure right now, but it's also true that Arber must be better.
Personally, I loved what I saw from Xhekaj a little before his injury last year. He was very solid and I hope he finds this level of play again.
So I agree with the coach when he says that his young defender must be a better version of him. He is capable of it and the Canadian really needs it.
