The assistant coach, whose main role was to manage the power play, will now take on a different role within the organization, allowing him to spend more time with his family.
Since this announcement, the Canadiens have been silent about potential candidates for the position, but a few names, like Pascal Vincent or Guy Boucher, have surfaced.
According to Philippe Boucher, we are off the mark. Burrows will not be replaced, and it will be Martin St-Louis himself who will take on additional responsibilities.
When we think about it, although it is not a common practice in the NHL, it would make perfect sense. By the end of the season, the Canadiens' power play had gained confidence, and Martin was much more involved in supporting Burrows.
Burrows has faced criticism in recent years, and my goal is not to criticize him. He did his best with what he had, but St-Louis is truly well-suited for the role.
We will see in the coming weeks what decision the organization will make, but if no one has been named yet, I am starting to believe it is a real possibility.
