Defenseman Michael Matheson left last night's game after the first period, and we can't really figure out how he got injured.

In fact, the entire RDS team was on the case for more than an hour, without ever finding a convincing sequence of his upper body injury.

The only thing we have is that he played in the last moments of the first period and he never came back in the game. He played 82 games last season, so we hope he can do the same this season.

The Canadiens just made a personnel move that doesn't bode well for Matheson, as Logan Mailloux has just been officially recalled.

This is a great opportunity for the youngster, who is really knocking on the NHL door. Several analysts agree that he was just one call-up away from staying in Montreal. We'll see in the coming days.

One thing is certain: Kent Hughes didn't call him up to warm the bench. If that were the case, he would have called up Gustav Lindstrom or another defenseman who needs to play less.

We know that Jayden Struble has been given the green light by the doctors, but he still hasn't played this season. Will he be left out again? Martin St. Louis is the only one who has that answer right now.

Let's hope Matheson isn't injured too seriously and that he returns to the game quickly. He's the club's undisputed number 1 defenseman and he's very important for the team to be successful.

In two games with the Rocket this season, Logan Mailloux has accumulated two goals and two assists, all obtained in the first duel of the season.
