Nick Suzuki in the same discussion as Matthew Tkachuk? The captain has been making a lot of noise over the past month and clinches the Molson Cup
The captain of the Montreal Canadiens, Nick Suzuki, is currently playing the best hockey of his career. He is on pace for his best season and the best for the Canadiens since Alex Kovalev in 2007.
With 59 points in 60 games, he could reach the 80-point mark, which would be more than respectable. His February was remarkable, earning him the Molson Cup with the Canadiens.
He has been so dominant that he matched the point production of Matthew Tkachuk, a 100-point scorer.
"TAMPA Forward Nick Suzuki is the Molson Cup recipient for the month of February.
Suzukiwas selected first star of the game twice (Feb. 6 in Washington and Feb. 13 against Anaheim) and second star of the game on three occasions (Feb. 10 against Dallas, Feb. 17 against Washington and Feb. 29 in Florida). In 11 games in February, the captain led the team and finished second in the NHL with 11 goals. His team-leading 17 points ranked him seventh among the League's top scorers during that span, tied with Matthew Tkachuk." - Montreal Canadiens
This is an exceptional statistic, considering the elder Tkachuk brothers had seasons of 104 and 109 points. Suzuki is truly standing out as one of the top forwards in the NHL, and it's very encouraging for the future.
