Patrik Laine's attitude issues: Captain Nick Suzuki speaks out and confirms his condition
Patrik Laine is a talented hockey player, but he has faced challenges in recent years, including last season, which was particularly tough for him.
He sought help from the NHL and NHLPA's Player Assistance Program, which is commendable. He has emerged from it stronger.
However, a relatively young player like Patrik Laine, who has requested trades twice with the Jets and Blue Jackets, comes with a set of questions. Many fans and analysts believe he has attitude problems, and there have even been testimonies on the matter.
But according to Mathieu Perreault, who played four seasons with him, this might not be true. And for the Canadiens, you can be reassured by the captain, Nick Suzuki.
"I've had the chance to skate with him over the last week and he's in good spirits. He seems to be in a good mindset which is great.
I think he's really excited to get it going with us."
- Nick Suzuki
Suzuki also mentioned that Patrik Laine is adapting well to Montreal, both physically and mentally, which is very important. Given the rough year he's had, being in a good mindset and ready to compete is crucial.
"I don't think he's skated too much over the last six, seven months, so I think he's really enjoyed being back out there with the guys and getting to work. It's been fun to get to know him a little bit."
Patrik Laine is thus getting accustomed to Montreal and his new teammates. The captain is hopeful that the team will be able to rekindle the flame in Patrik Laine and help him become the dominant player he was early in his career.
