Patrik Laine will be traded this summer, it's a certainty, and his name is more closely associated with the Canadiens than ever.

He won't cost too much to acquire, and the Canadiens are one of the few teams able to absorb the entirety of his $8.7 million contract for the next two years.

According to rumors, the Anaheim Ducks, Buffalo Sabres, and Pittsburgh Penguins are the other three teams in the mix.

The Price to Acquire Patrik Laine is Known
Although the price to pay is known, it remains very vague. Don Waddell is looking for a forward who can play now, but it's unclear how dominant he needs to be.

It's certain that Laine doesn't have the same value he once did, and it will depend on the percentage of salary the Blue Jackets are willing to retain.

For Tony Marinaro, there is only one proposal to make, and that is to trade number 17.

COLUMBUS gives: Patrik Laine

MONTREAL gives: Josh Anderson

A bad contract for another. Josh Anderson no longer fits into the plans and style of play of the Canadiens, and Patrik Laine could rebound and become one of the top forwards on the team.

Honestly, if Kent Hughes is able to complete this trade, he will be seen as a genius once again. Laine is a much better player than Anderson and would immediately strengthen the top 6.

Furthermore, acquiring Laine would not be too risky, as he only has two years left on his contract. If it doesn't work out, Hughes can simply let him go in two years.
