Plot Twist and Jersey Number Change for Cole Caufield? A Major Announcement Could Be on the Horizon
While Canadiens fans proudly wear Cole Caufield's number 22 to every game, a change could be on the horizon.
It's not coming from the player, but it could come from the management. Indeed, according to what Stu Cowan reports, Steve Shutt's number 22 jersey could be retired soon.
With 424 goals and 5 Stanley Cups in the Canadiens uniform, the honor would be well-deserved. We are still in the speculation stage, but it remains a serious question to consider.
A New Number for Cole
Cole wore number 13 with the U.S. team. If he were to change, he might use it again since it's currently available.
Another possibility is for him to switch to number 26, in honor of Martin St-Louis. All indications are that Johnathan Kovacevic will not stay with the Canadiens for very long, so this number could become vacant as well.
It's important to note that if the decision comes from the organization, all officially sold merchandise will be replaced at their expense, so no need to worry!
