Ultimately, he decided to continue his career in California, and given his disappointing performance, it's probably for the best. However, a proposal to bring him to Montreal has surfaced and it's causing a stir.
Indeed, the site Habsetlnh.com has floated the idea of trading Joel Armia for Pierre-Luc Dubois. The site clearly states that this is not speculation, possibility, or rumor. It's just to see what your opinion is, and we've decided to play along as well.
Dubois was traded for the equivalent of three first-round picks. He clearly doesn't have unanimous support with his $8.5 million salary and lack of effort.
He has only accumulated 35 points in 74 games, including 15 goals. That's clearly insufficient. Just imagine if the Kings GM decided he would give him away, or almost, because he's tired of him.
On the other hand, Joel Armia has a salary of $3.4 million for another year. Although he has had two stints in the AHL, he has rebounded remarkably well. He has 20 points, including 14 goals.
Clearly, Armia currently fills a more important role than Dubois. Both players are inconsistent, but their salaries are different.
Would you make the trade of these two players one for one?
