Public statement from Logan Mailloux following a decision from the Canadiens and he does not agree
Logan Mailloux recently shared his feelings after being assigned to the Laval Rocket to start the 2024-2025 season.
Following the decision made by Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton to cut him, along with other young players like Adam Engstrom, Jakub Dobes, and Joshua Roy, Mailloux expressed that he felt he had been good enough to play for the Canadiens from the start.
In his comments to the media, Mailloux made it clear that he believed he was ready for the NHL and was disappointed by the organization's decision to send him to Laval. Unlike his teammate Joshua Roy, who approached the situation with a positive mindset and a desire to improve, Mailloux seemed more disheartened. He emphasized his desire to return to Montreal as quickly as possible and prove that he belongs on the team.
While Mailloux was disappointed, it's important to note that at just 21 years old, he still has room to grow and will continue his development under the supervision of Pascal Vincent with the Laval Rocket.
As reported in Le Journal de Montréal:
"While Joshua Roy spoke about consistency and hard work with a positive attitude after his first training session with the Rocket, Logan Mailloux conveyed a similar message, but without the same level of enthusiasm."
Mailloux added:
"More critical of his assignment to Laval to start the season, the defenseman believed he had done enough during the Canadiens' camp, even though he had been more self-critical in his own assessment."
His performances at the beginning of the season will be crucial in determining when he might earn a call-up back to the NHL.
