He is the number one goalie for the Canadiens, although his position isn't officially guaranteed. He'll need to keep performing well, but for now, it seems secure until proven otherwise.
During a visit to the Bell Centre with the Devils, Jake Allen took the time to speak about Monty and had very positive things to say. He even suggested that Montembeault deserves to go to the Olympics, nothing less.
Representing one's country at the Olympics is an honor that few people can boast about in a lifetime, especially when a hockey player is Canadian.
Jake Allen is himself a Canadian from New Brunswick, so he knows what he's talking about. When he says he was very attached to Montreal and didn't want to leave, that's completely true.
He spent his summer in the metropolis, and one can imagine his children were able to reconnect with their friends.
Listening to Jake Allen speak and behave, he is the type of person that Kent Hughes and the management love to have in the organization. I don't know where his playing career will lead him, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Jake Allen hired by the Canadiens once he retires as a player.
At 34 years old, that could even happen this summer, as he will be an unrestricted free agent.
