According to Pierre McGuire, there will be no trade this summer, and the Canadiens will look exactly the same as they do now on October 9.
He claims that the asking price is simply too high to acquire players like Trevor Zegras, Martin Necas, Rutger McGroarty, and others.
In a rebuilding phase, Hughes cannot sacrifice the future of the team for such a player, especially with promising forwards like Ivan Demidov and Michael Hage set to arrive in the coming years.
Clearly, other teams want what is valuable to the Canadiensa promising young defenseman. Jordan Harris and Justin Barron do not fit that category.
Personally, I believe McGuire is right, unless a GM from one of those teams starts to panic. However, I would be very surprised if that happens, and Kent Hughes won't be swayed either.
