Yesterday, we learned of the tragic death of former QMJHL goalie Creed Jones, who was 24 years old.

Jones played for Saint-John, Gatineau, and Rimouski during his junior career, and he touched many with his big heart.

One of his host families in Rimouski commented on the tragedy:

"After welcoming him into their family during his first stay in Rimouski, Paméla Couturier remembers a young man with a big heart, friendly, funny, and endearing, despite a 'mysterious bad-boy exterior.'"

This kind of comment is frequently echoed by those who knew him well. At just 24 years old, it is indeed very young.

At the time of the announcement yesterday, the cause of death was as mysterious as the man himself, but details have since emerged.

"Former Océanic goalie Creed Jones tragically died at the age of 24 following a motorcycle accident on Friday night on Highway 417 in the Ottawa region. His host families in Rimouski are said to be in shock."

"According to CBC, Jones was heading west just before midnight when he collided with another motorcyclist, aged 27, at an off-ramp. The other motorcyclist also died in the incident."

Thus, the young man's death was the result of a motorcycle accident, which also claimed the life of another young man, aged 27.

Once again, our thoughts and condolences go out to Jones' family and loved ones during this difficult time.
