Signing Alert: Four players sign professional tryout contracts, including a well known player in Montreal
The St. Louis Blues have added four players to their training camps on professional tryout (PTO) contracts, including Matthew Peca, a familiar name for Montreal Canadiens fans.
"The Blues announce that they have signed four players via PTO, including restricted free agent forward Nikita Alexandrov. Free agent forwards Sam Bitten and Matthew Peca, as well as defenseman Scott Harrington, are also on PTO contracts."
David Pagnotta Here is an overview of the signed players:
Matthew Peca: At 31, Peca has had a fairly modest NHL career with 21 points in 83 games. He spent a notable part of his career with the Montreal Canadiens. His ability to play as a supporting forward could give him a chance to secure a regular contract.
Nikita Alexandrov: At 24 years old, Alexandrov is a young forward with limited NHL experience (9 points in 51 games), but he has shown strong performance in the AHL with 45 points in 48 games. His youth and development potential might be appealing to the Blues.
Scott Harrington: A 31-year-old defenseman with solid NHL experience (49 points in 255 games), Harrington is a veteran who could offer stability and experience to the Blues' defense.
Sam Bitten: Another young player at 24 years old who played 29 games in the AHL last season. Bitten is an interesting option as a forward-looking to make the jump to the NHL.
