Major announcement from the Canadiens: Kaiden Guhle just underwent surgery and we have the details
Kaiden Guhle has just signed a solid six-year contract extension that will begin next season, and he seems fully prepared for the upcoming campaign.
However, just as the team was in good health-aside from Rafaël Harvey-Pinard-we've learned that Guhle underwent emergency surgery and will miss at least the beginning of training camp.
The good news is that the surgery appears to be routine and not too serious, but it's still unclear how his body will respond.
Older fans may recall Patrick Roy's situation in 1994, when he missed Game 3 of the first-round series against Boston for a similar procedure. He managed to convince doctors to let him return for Game 4, where he blocked 39 shots in a 5-2 victory.
Of course, medical practices have evolved since then, and follow-up care is different. Kaiden Guhle won't have the option to push for an earlier return like Roy did, but this context suggests that his absence shouldn't be overly long.
