It's pretty clear that the GM likes him a lot, but don't be disillusioned. The Dallas Stars won't be trading him, but the day he becomes available, Kent Hughes will certainly call his counterpart in Texas.
As my colleagues from the Habs and NHL site mention, this is not a rumor but an observation. Kent Hughes has mentioned the forward's name three times during his last three media scrums.
More recently, in an interview with Tony Marinaro, Kent Hughes commented on Serge Savard's remarks about wanting the Canadiens to bulk up a bit. Many people agree with him.
For the Canadiens' GM, the perfect comparison is Logan Stankoven, who is 5'8" and wins the majority of his battles along the boards.
When a general manager repeatedly mentions a player's name like this, it's not by chance. He really has him in his sights. I don't think he will be able to acquire him in the short term, but he makes a good point.
There are quite a few small players in the NHL, and more and more of them. A guy like Martin St-Louis had a dream career despite his small size, and Kent Hughes has also mentioned his name.
