As is customary during training camps, several players must go through waivers to return to the American Hockey League.

For young players like Owen Beck, it's not necessary, as they are not yet eligible due to their contract status. That's why he was simply assigned to the Rocket late Saturday night.

Today, the Canadiens announced that they have placed Lucas Condotta and Brandon Gignac on waivers in order to send them to the Rocket training camp.

This aligns with the 27 other players who were cut last night, including goalies Connor Hughes, Hunter Jones, and Luke Cavallin.

It's a disappointment for Brandon Gignac, but it's not a big surprise. He knows that anything can happen, and by working hard in Laval, he has a real chance of being recalled.

It's important to note that the potential significant injury to Patrik Laine will force Kent Hughes to keep one more player in Montreal, so there's a good chance a player like Oliver Kapanen or Emil Heineman will stay with the Canadiens.

In Kapanen's case, it's either the Canadiens or Europe, while Heineman can return to Laval.

Stay tuned in the coming days.
