The first six picks already revealed? The Canadiens are hesitating between two
We hear a lot of rumors about the Canadiens' upcoming 5th overall pick and those who will be selected before, but when this source comes from the NHL, it gets interesting.
Indeed, former Canadiens scout Grant McCagg still has very solid sources in the NHL, and he shared his top 6 based on what he's hearing through the grapevine.
While McCagg allows room for speculation, he is certain about a few of these picks.
"Here is what I heard from one very tied-in NHL source today concerning how the top six picks may go.
Chicago - "Levshunov locked in"
Anaheim - "Silayev from everything I'm hearing "
Columbus - "Scouts think Lindstrom is going 4th"
MTL - "Everyone thinks MTL is taking Demidov or Buium"
Utah - "Sennecke goes 6th"
Take it for what it's worth. All just speculation until you hear the names called." - Grant McCagg
Obviously, he doesn't even mention Macklin Celebrini to San Jose, because it's a given. According to him, the Blackhawks' pick is confirmed with Artyom Levshunov, a solid defenseman.
The rest of the list makes a lot of sense, except maybe Beckett Sennecke at the 6th rank. However, the Coyotes' management, which is the same in Utah, surprised us last year with their first-round pick as well.
As for the Canadiens, Zeev Buium is a very interesting defenseman, but I can't conceive that they would pass over Ivan Demidov. I don't think there's really a debate about that.
In any case, we'll see tomorrow what choice the Canadiens make!
