The injury to Cole Caufield has reportedly been identified, and it is concerning for the Montreal Canadiens
In recent days, Cole Caufield has missed Canadiens' training sessions in favor of treatment days. The small forward is clearly hampered by an injury, and Renaud Lavoie has identified its source.
Indeed, Cole did not play very well on Saturday against Washington. It was difficult for him to move his skates properly, and his condition was worrying, especially as he continued to miss practices afterward.
Nevertheless, number 22 was present at the morning skate on Wednesday and in his position for the game against the Sabres at the Bell Centre.
As for his injury, it reportedly occurred in the last two minutes of the game against the New York Rangers. An accidental collision between him and defenseman Adam Fox is said to be the cause, and it's the lower body, possibly the left leg, that took the impact.
Cole took some time to get up, and he winced after the contact, so it makes a lot of sense. The Canadiens have avoided the worst, as losing Caufield would be very costly for the team.
