It's been all over the hockey world for Habs fans today: Juraj Slafkovsky was injured in practice and left after just 20 minutes.

The Slovakian didn't return afterward and from his reaction, it looked pretty sore. We know it takes a lot for Slaf to stop playing, so it must have been serious.

It's clear that his shoulder is causing him problems, but it's very difficult to understand the nature of this injury, when he was just taking a routine shot.

According to Dr. Footy, it would be related to the rotator cuff and it would be a fairly minor injury.

"Update on Slafkovsky's injury!

This is likely a grade 1 rotator cuff tendonitis. In fact, it's an inflammation of the left shoulder due to overuse that fits with his more physical play this season.

He is travelling with the team and should be fit for Saturday. Worst case scenario he would miss 1-2 games." - Da Footy MD

This is a very encouraging statement, and we can see that this seems to be a fairly common injury. The most important thing is that it usually resolves very quickly.

Doctor Footy says he should be fit to play Saturday night, which is good news.

It is easier to see why he traveled with the team despite the fact that he seemed very uncomfortable during practice. Please note that Michael Matheson is a question mark, while Kaiden Guhle will not be there for the game.

Logan Mailloux has been recalled and all indications are that he will make his NHL debut in 2024-25.
