An alumnus of the inaugural season of the Laval Rocket is among the invited guests at camp, as Éric Gélinas was mentioned by Anthony Marcotte.
Author of 26 points in 64 games in 2017-18, Éric Gélinas was one of the team's most productive defensemen and he made a good impression, notably thanks to his powerful shot and his 13 goals.
The giant at 6'4" and 215 lbs is now 33 years old and has acquired an impressive wealth of experience, as he has played a lot in Europe over the past few years.
The defenseman could indeed cause a surprise and provide valuable services, especially since the announcement of David Reinbacher's injury, who will miss 5 to 6 months of activities.
A bit like last season, the Austrian will therefore arrive with the Rocket only at the end of the season. It's really a shame for his development, but at least he will be able to play a few games.
The presence of veteran Gélinas could therefore be very good news for young players like Adam Engstrom and Logan Mailloux, among others.
Éric Gélinas has somewhat slowed down, partly due to injuries, but he remains capable of being very productive. We're talking about 14 points in 30 games in Switzerland last year.
