The rumor is now confirmed for Kent Hughes and Ivan Demidov
It's summer and there are many rumors circulating, and one of them has just been confirmed regarding Kent Hughes and Ivan Demidov.
Why Kent Hughes? Because he made the right choice to select Demidov at the 5th overall pick, especially since the young prospect will receive quality support in the KHL.
Indeed, Ivan Demidov will play on the same team as Evgeny Kuznetsov, who decided to forego the final year of his $7.8 million contract shared between the Capitals and Hurricanes to sign a four-year deal with SKA St. Petersburg.
"Hearing Evgeny Kuznetsov will be placed on unconditional waivers today for purposes of a mutual contract termination.
Both #Canes and #Caps are now free of Kuznetsov's cap hit and contract. He is walking away from final $6 million owed in salary this season to return to Russia."
- Frank Seravalli
So it's confirmed that Kuznetsov is officially leaving the NHL. He will be an asset for the development of his young teammate, who will join the NHL next year.
He will be able to prepare him for what lies ahead and the caliber of the best league in the world. It's significant preparation to have a former NHL star as a teammate.
Kent Hughes must be very pleased to hear this news today. Kuznetsov hasn't always made headlines for the right reasons, but he remains an excellent hockey player who knows the game well.
