Trade market: David Savard traded to a direct rival?
Tomorrow is the trade deadline, and the name that continues to circulate the most for the Canadiens is that of David Savard. According to rumors, the defenseman could fetch a significant return, at least a first-round pick.
More and more rumors mention teams willing to part with their top prospect for the upcoming draft, and this time it comes from the Toronto Maple Leafs.
"Bryan Hayes on Sportscentre says David Savard is worth a 1st RDer for the Leafs, shoots right, has term, has a ring and has a physical component to his game. Says he is not sure Liljegren can play in the playoffs, but knows Savard can."

The fact that there is a lot of demand for Savard could even increase this offer. Obviously, it all depends on Kent Hughes' plan. If the GM decides to keep him and he's worth more to the organization than a first-round pick, he will stay in Montreal.
