TRADE ALERT: Rangers add significant depth to their offense
We've just witnessed a trade in the NHL. It's very eventful today, and it's not expected to slow down before Friday afternoon.
Center Alexander Wennberg is heading to New York. In return, the Seattle Kraken receive a 2024 2nd-round pick and a 2025 4th-round pick.
Wennberg was in demand, and several teams were interested in him. For a center who produces around 30 points per season, the price is quite low.
By way of comparison, former Canadiens player Lars Eller was traded to the Capitals for two 2nd-round picks, and he is less productive than Wennberg.
It remains a good acquisition for the Rangers, who undoubtedly want to respond to the Avalanche after their two big transactions of the day.
