Trade: Michael Matheson traded for a 6th overall pick?
The Canadiens are looking to acquire young talent up front, but to do so, they'll have to part ways with a defenseman, likely a left-handed one. Never would we have thought of Michael Matheson.
David Ettedgui, on the other hand, has considered the Montrealer. Why should Kent Hughes sacrifice one of his promising young defensemen when a veteran has just had an excellent season?
Indeed, Matheson finished in the top 10 in the NHL for defenseman points, with 62. He certainly has value right now, and it's very good.
According to Ettedgui, Mike could fetch between a 6th and a 15th overall pick. Wow!
While I don't agree with trading Matheson, it must be admitted that receiving a 6th overall pick for him would change the game.
Kent Hughes absolutely must find a way to unclog the left side of his defense. It could well be him, the first to go, even though I don't wish it.
