Transaction between the Florida Panthers and the Montreal Canadiens involving forward Joel Armia?
Not surprisingly, the Canadiens and Kent Hughes will be sellers by March 8. The team is going nowhere this season, and it might be their last chance to stock up on prospects.
A player we would have never thought would interest other teams is Joel Armia. However, it must be admitted that he's been playing honest hockey lately and could be valuable depth for a playoff-bound team.
According to an observer, Paul Maurice is a fan of the Finn and proposes an interesting trade.
"To Florida
Joel Armia
To Montreal
Gracyn Sawchyn
+ salary dump
Paul Maurice appreciated playoffs-Armia in the CF. Upgrades bottom-6.
Ranked Sawchyn 24th last summer, went 63rd. Didn't take the expected step with bigger role on new team. Great buy-low candidate IMHO." - PM Perron
While we thought we might have to pay to get rid of Armia, Kent Hughes might be able to trade him, which would be exceptional, especially for a player who was perceived as a potential first-round pick.
Among other CH players likely to leave, there are Jake Allen, Tanner Pearson, and David Savard.
