This is obviously a figure of speech, as the GM is always listening and ready for any eventuality, but he is not looking to fill a need on offense.
The impressive progress of several young players is a very good reason to keep the roster intact, and the shorter-than-anticipated absence of Patrik Laine also plays a crucial role in this decision.
However, there are still three veterans who could be on the move and are still on the market. According to the DLC website, Christian Dvorak, Josh Anderson, and Joel Armia are ones to watch closely.
These are not immediate trades, but if the season were to go south, it could materialize, especially in the cases of Dvorak and Armia.
Both forwards will be unrestricted free agents at the end of the season, which will increase their value. However, for now, I would be very surprised if Kent Hughes makes a deal.
Christian Dvorak, while not very useful for the Habs at the moment, is pretty much the only left-handed center (aside from Alex Newhook). He is one of the few who can take left-side face-offs with a good success rate.
Joel Armia had quite an end to the season and bounced back well after his time with the Laval Rocket. He will be an asset on the third line if he continues to play the same way.
Finally, Josh Anderson doesn't really have much value because of his contract. If he performs well this year, there will only be two seasons left on his contract afterward, which could interest other teams.
We'll see what Kent Hughes does, but I have the impression that his decisions will be directly linked to the team's results by Christmas.
