There are also two other players that Hughes acquired last year, but unfortunately, they will not be returning to the organization.
First, Colin White, the 21st overall pick in 2015, will not be returning to the team, as we learned this weekend.
A Second First-Round Pick Leaves the Canadiens
Besides White, Lias Andersson, the 7th overall pick in 2017 and drafted by Jeff Gorton with the Rangers, has just signed in the top Swiss league for two seasons.
Andersson will clearly not be returning, either to the Canadiens or to North America.
Loss of Two First-Round Picks: Nothing Surprising
It's unfortunate to lose these two players, but it's not surprising. Colin White was acquired as a rental, and Andersson was an ultimate test to see if he could finally break through at the NHL level.
He completely missed the boat, as he was not considered for a recall. The Canadiens preferred other players instead.
We wish them the best of luck in the future.
