Patrick Roy is making a destructive move for his goalie, it's heavy
Patrick Roy is generating a lot of buzz during the current playoffs. He has chosen to make Semyon Varlamov his number one goalie, against all expectations.
This decision is quite controversial, especially considering that Ilya Sorokin is regarded as one of the best goalies in the world and is the organization's number one.
Sitting on the bench for the first two games, Sorokin finally got the start in the third game, but things didn't go as planned. After allowing 3 goals on 13 shots, Roy had seen enough and pulled him from the game.
The young man had a reaction that was evident and heartbreaking. He seemed extremely affected by this decision, as he stood in the corridor for long minutes with all his equipment still on him.
"Ilya Sorokin has been standing in the tunnel with all his gear on since getting pulled."
It's a truly sad scene, and it's clear that Patrick has no confidence in him. The goalie also seems to have lost his footing, which is concerning.
The Islanders are trailing 3-0 in the series. If Roy decides to go back with Varlamov for the 4th game, it's likely that things won't look good for Sorokin's future on Long Island.
"No no no no
I can't Sorokin doesn't deserve to feel like this. This man has carried this team on his back more times than can be counted.
We still love you Sorokin." - Islanders fans
