It's now confirmed: Sidney Crosby stays with the Penguins and signs a contract extension
Sidney Crosby will be entering the final year of his contract this season, and there was speculation about whether he would leave Pittsburgh before the end of his career.
It would be very sad, even dramatic, if the Penguins' captain, who has won three Stanley Cups and two Conn Smythe Trophies with the team, played in a jersey other than the one from Team Canada or the Rimouski Oceanic.
But now it's confirmed for the Kid, who has just signed for two more years.
Sidney Crosby will be 39 years old when this contract ends, approaching his 40th birthday, which suggests this could very well be his final contract in the NHL.
He is undoubtedly one of the top 10 players in hockey history and will go straight into the Hockey Hall of Fame with his number retired.
But before that happens, Sid the Kid will continue to play for the team of his predecessor, Mario Lemieux, for three more seasons.
Notably, Crosby has always been very superstitious, and his $8.7 million contract proves it once again!
