Tribute to Johnny Gaudreau: the Maple Leafs caught red-handed and it's dreadful
The Toronto Maple Leafs are one of the six original teams, boasting over 100 years of history, yet they haven't won the Stanley Cup since 1967.
They have always been a fierce rival of the Canadiens, and it's very important that this rivalry endures over time. Games between the Canadiens and the Maple Leafs are always highly emotional.
The problem in Toronto is that the lack of victories seems to affect them deeply. They finally have a more than competitive team, but once again, they can't find a way to win in the playoffs.
Their fans are tired. Defeat is no longer acceptable there, and patience is running thin. But there are limits that shouldn't be crossed.
Indeed, during the tribute to Johnny Gaudreau presented on Sunday night, some Maple Leafs fans were unable to maintain silence. They were only asked for 13 seconds.
This is not an isolated case; several fans disrespected the memory of Johnny Hockey and his family. In my opinion, this is unacceptable.
In comparison, at the Bell Centre, you could have heard a pin drop because it was so silent. Clearly, this is very sad, and we finally have the video.
I am truly proud of the fans present at the Bell Centre. They maintained silence, and I would have been embarrassed to witness a scene like the one that occurred in Toronto.
With the career he had, which shouldn't have ended so soon, and the greatness of the man he was, Johnny Gaudreau deserved his moment of silence, and so did his family.
