An official leaves on a stretcher after a worrying contact
We don't often highlight it, but the work of referees is incredibly difficult. They follow the game non-stop for 60 minutes, without really resting.
Indeed, they are always on the ice, and at the pace it goes, it's very demanding. Nevertheless, we are fortunate to see very few accidents involving them.
Unfortunately, it happened Saturday afternoon in the game between the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Tampa Bay Lightning. Haydn Fleury accidentally made contact with Steve Kozari.
The referee left on a stretcher after long minutes on the ice. He even lost consciousness. The only good news in the story is that he was conscious when he left.
"Very scary moment in Lightning-Penguins as referee Steve Kozari collided with Haydn Fleury and had to be stretchered off the ice. Thankfully Kozari was awake and alert as he was helped off." - TheScore
Let's wish Kozari good luck and hope he recovers as quickly as possible. We never like to hear that a player or referee is injured.
