Gary Bettman finally comments publicly on the Corey Perry matter
The governors were meeting in Seattle today, providing the perfect opportunity to question Gary Bettman, who had not yet commented on the Corey Perry situation.
Firstly, was he in agreement with the Blackhawks' decision? Elliotte Friedman provided an update.
"Bettman says he is comfortable with results of Blackhawks investigation into Corey Perry, has not determined if the player will need to have a conversation/hearing with him to return" - Via Elliotte Friedman
It's clear that Gary Bettman is likely aware of every detail, and he hasn't even decided if he needs to question Perry in the event of his return to play.
This speaks volumes about the gravity of the situation. That is to say, if it had been very serious, there is no doubt he would have wanted to have a say in the matter.
In short, it's serious enough for the Blackhawks to show him the exit without paying his salary, but perhaps not serious enough for him to return to the League. There are already rumors about his possible comeback. In my opinion, it will depend more on him than anything else.
To be continued...
