It's awful what happened with the players of Team Canada junior
For a rare occasion, Team Canada junior has been excluded from the medal round at the World Junior Hockey Championship. A heartbreaking loss against the Czech Republic, who scored the winning goal with 11 seconds left in the game, proved to be their undoing.
It's sad, but it's time to move on. It remains a valuable experience for these young players aged 17 to 20.
Hockey is still a sport, a game. Even at a competitive level, it is inhumane to target players for a defeat. Unfortunately, that's what happened.
Players received hateful messages and threats for their early defeat. The team's captain, Fraser Minten, was particularly blamed.
It's simply disgusting behavior, especially towards young individuals who did their best to represent their country. They must already be incredibly disappointed, and they don't need to receive threats on top of that.
It's shameful for hockey fans in Canada. Fortunately, it's a minority of people who lack conscience and engage in such actions.
