Sudden twist: Amazon secures broadcasting rights for 12 NHL teams
Diamond Sports Group, a subsidiary of Bally Sports, held the television rights for 12 NHL teams. However, the company is in bankruptcy, and Amazon has acquired a minority stake in the group.
The goal is quite simple: to broadcast NHL games on Amazon Prime. It's safe to say it's a significant development.
"Big news this morning that Amazon is acquiring a minority stake in Diamond Sports Group.
The regional sports network filed for bankruptcy last year, putting local media rights for 37 teams across the NBA, MLB, and NHL in jeopardy.
Now, customers can watch games on Amazon Prime."
This is excellent news for fans of these teams who were uncertain about the continued broadcasting of their favorite games.
Of course, the Montreal Canadiens are not affected by this news.
